Add Maple

Connect to Tally

AddMaple integrates with Tally, allowing you to analyze your form responses without needing to download and upload files. Your responses sync automatically each time you open your project.

How to Connect

1. Create a Tally API Key

Before connecting, you'll need to create an API key in your Tally account:

  1. Go to Tally Settings → API keys
  2. Click Create API key
  3. Copy the generated key (it starts with tly-)

Important: Store your API key securely. You won't be able to see it again after creation.

2. Start a New Project in AddMaple

Sign in to AddMaple and go to the New Project page.

3. Click "Tally" in the Cloud Services Section

Under "Connect cloud service", click the Tally option.

4. Enter Your API Key

A dialog will appear asking for your Tally API key. Paste the key you created in step 1 and click Connect.

AddMaple will validate your API key by fetching your forms list.

5. Select a Form

After validation, you'll see a list of all your Tally forms. Click on the form you want to analyze.

6. Start Analyzing

AddMaple will fetch your submissions and automatically:

  • Detect column types (text, numbers, categories, dates)
  • Merge multi-select questions into single columns
  • Generate readable column names
  • Create initial charts and summaries

Keeping Data in Sync

Each time you open your Tally project in AddMaple, it fetches the latest submissions. There's no need to manually refresh or re-upload data.

Supported Question Types

AddMaple handles all Tally question types:

Tally Type AddMaple Type

Multiple Choice (single), Dropdown Category
Checkboxes, Multi-Select Multi-Select

API Key Security

  • Your API key is stored securely and used only to fetch your Tally data
  • AddMaple requests read-only access to your forms and submissions
  • Your actual form responses are processed in your browser and never stored on our servers

Troubleshooting

"Invalid API key" Error

Make sure you copied the complete API key including the tly- prefix.

Empty Forms List

Your API key inherits your user permissions. Make sure you have access to the forms you want to analyze in your Tally account.

API Key Expired

If your API key stops working, create a new one in your Tally settings and reconnect.
