How to use color presets
In AddMaple, charts use a default color scheme. Sometimes you'll want to change this — for example, to use brand colors or to make sure your charts are easier to interpret. You can do this by selecting a different preset or creating your own.
You'll find color presets under More menu → Project Settings → Manage Project. This is the same location where you can configure weighting and other project settings.
There are 8 built-in presets such as Deep Explorer or Storyburst. To switch, just select a preset and click Save in the bottom right. All charts in the project will update, except for variables where you've set custom colors. PowerPoint exports will also use your chosen preset.
If you select Custom, you'll see three sections:
- Category Colors – these are used for categories in charts and for different data types. You can add as many colors as you want. If your chart has more categories than colors, you can either interpolate (stretch the colors across all categories) or repeat (cycle through the colors).
- Sentiment Colors – these are used for ordered data, such as Likert questions. You can choose two colors each for negative, neutral, and positive.
- Numeric Scale Colors – these are used for numeric data. You choose three colors, which are applied as a gradient.
Previews below the editor show how your choices will look in charts. Once you're happy, click Save to apply them.
Custom presets are often used to bring in brand palettes. If you need exceptions, you can still override colors for a specific variable directly. Learn more about managing individual column colors.
